I know what it’s like . . .
I started struggling with my weight when I was 18.  That sounds familiar, doesn’t it?  I wasn’t horribly overweight, but enough so that I couldn’t stand myself that way. That sounds familiar too, doesn’t it?Like many people, I tried all sorts of diets.  I wasn’t thinking at all about whether the foods I ate were healthy — all I cared about was if they would help me lose weight.  So I ate a very unhealthy diet, unconscious of the health problems I was creating.By the time I was in my 20’s, I began to suffer from some serious health problems: iritis, arthritis, colitis, and gastritis!  Everything was inflamed!  I was told I would go blind, and I was likely to be crippled by arthritis. I took some very powerful drugs which (as you guessed) treated the symptoms, but not the cause.   The doctors gave me NO HOPE for a cure. These were chronic conditions that I could expect to have FOR LIFE, and they would get progressively worse over the years.Now, I was only in my 20’s!  Is that all I had to look forward to?

Fortunately, I found a better way!

The turning point came that day when I decided: “I’m no longer going to try to force my body to be a certain size. I’m going to eat for health — not to lose weight.”

It must have been an angel on my shoulder that put those words into my mind. It certainly wasn’t the doctors!

I was also a certified instructor for the Food for Life Classes for cancer prevention and survival and diabetes prevention and reversal, through the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine for over 6 years.
